Washington Nationals Pitcher Criticized For Missing Playoff Game For Daughter’s Birth

Let’s just get this out in the open now—I don’t know anything about baseball. So, there might be a wrong date or term or something else in this story.

Daniel Hudson is the relief pitcher for the Washington Nationals. Yes, the same Washington Nationals that just made it to the World Series. Of course a team doesn’t really ever know if they’re going to make it to a series or playoffs.

So when the Nationals made it to the National League Championship Series, Daniel opted to miss the first game. He did so because his wife was being induced and was due to go into labor.

According to Today, there was never any other choice for the pitcher.

“I knew I was going to go no matter what. I didn’t know that this was a new thing, to have a playoff paternity leave list. I had no idea.”

But some fans and Twitter users didn’t seem to agree. They were not happy that he decided to go to the birth of his child instead of playing in the series.
