Penny Marshall, the legendary actress, comedian, and movie director has died from complications of diabetes. She was 75.
Here are some highlights from her career.
From 1976-1983, Penny played Laverne DeFazio alongside Cindy Willams on ABC’s hit situation comedy Laverne & Shirley.
Marshall became a critically-acclaimed movie director after Laverne & Shirley, directing such hits as 1988’s Big starring Tom Hanks.
In 1990, Marshall teamed Robert De Niro with Robin Williams in the Oscar-nominated Awakenings.
1992, Penny worked with Tom Hanks again in A League of Their Own, co-starring Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell which was shot here in Indiana.
And who could forget the memorable ads for Kmart she appeared in with Rosie O’Donnell throughout the 1990s?
