NFL football is almost here. The first game is tomorrow between the Cowboys and Bucs. And a new report found a record number of Americans will gamble on games this season.
According to PR Newswire, the American Gaming Association says over 45 million Americans will bet on games in one way or another. That’s almost 1 in 5 people who are old enough to gamble.
Casual betting with friends is the most common way we do it. Meaning things like betting 20 bucks that your team will beat your friend’s favorite team. Online betting is next, including bets made on illegal gambling sites. Those types of bets are expected to jump 73 percent this year.
Fantasy football leagues and office pools are next, followed by bets at casinos. Placing bets with a bookie is less common. It also found 25% of Americans are more excited about this NFL season than usual.
And the top teams gamblers are picking to win the Super Bowl are the Chiefs, Buccaneers, and Cowboys.
