The Cleveland Indians Have Officially Changed Their Team Name

The Cleveland Indians have a new team name.

After more than 100 years as the Indians, and years of social pressure from Native American groups, the team announced today they will officially become the Guardians. Team owner Paul Dolan said the Indians moniker will remain in place for the remainder of this season, but the team will officially adopt the Guardians name for the 2022 season.

The team made the announcement in a tweet which included a video narrated by Tom Hanks.
