You might not be seeing Thomas Rhett on social media for a while—at least not on Instagram. The country star said he’s taking a break from the app that he spends too much time on and that is too negative according to a recent story.

The move comes after some backlash from Lauren Akins’ recent Insta post. Apparently the couple and their friends took a trip to Cabo and posted photos of the group on a boat, hanging with a sea lion and more. But, some fans couldn’t help notice the lack of masks in the photos and the fact that they were traveling during the pandemic.

Some of the comments called the couple out for being tone deaf and failing to set an example. Some comments included:

“Must be nice to vacay during a pandemic without a care in the world 😒”

“I do have to agree with those who are wondering why you are traveling during a pandemic and with a bunch of people… it looks amazing but is also disappointing to those who are doing everything possible to stay safe and keep others safe.”

“Super tone deaf.”

“This is absolutely crazy! It’s sad 😢 because it shows so much entitlement during a pandemic. I really like them but very disappointed.”

There were other fans who came to their defense as well.

While we don’t know the whole story (they could have quarantined beforehand, taken a private jet, etc.) they are in the public eye which typically means they are held to a higher standard…for better or worse.
