As restaurants are starting to open back up, some have been adding charges to recoup some losses during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to LadBible, several take-out customers shared their receipts that featured a “COVID-19 surcharge,” which was only a few dollars, but they weren’t told about until they paid for their food.
You can see a receipt below below, which have really only been local restaurants who more likely need the extra income to keep their restaurant afloat.
Some restaurants have included the surcharge to help prevent raising menu prices, but ever since the post went viral the initial restaurant in question has received a lot of criticism.
Would you be okay with paying an extra “COVID-19” surcharge or pay more for the menu items you order?
