The Red Cross is hitting up Indiana over the next two weeks with a mission to put 100,000 smoke detectors in Hoosier homes. It’s called the Sound the Alarm campaign.
This is not just a handout program. The Red Cross has recruited volunteers (and is always looking for more) to install 3 alarms in each home they visit. If you get a knock on your door, they will also be ready to sit down and discuss a safety plan in the event of a fire.
WTHR reminds us that,
“It’s important to remember to check and change your smoke alarm batteries every year. Also, replace old alarms after 10 years to ensure they’ll work when you need them.”
