You have heard the interview with Kenny from his Little Rock show, but here is the behind the scenes story from that unforgettable weekend.
I feel very fortunate to have been asked to visit Kenny Chesney the weekend of the May 16th and 17th. However, I ran into some big time thunderstorms in Atlanta and missed my early connector to Little RockArkansas where he was getting ready to perform. Caught the next shuttle though and with a cab ride to Alltel Arena made it with minutes to spare before my scheduled interview time!
I heard someone ask would anyone like a beer before Kenny arrives and since I just arrived I thought that sounded like a wonderful idea! Corona is his sponsor again this year and the Corona
Light was chilled to perfection.
Kenny arrived to face his adoring radio friends from Seattle to WashingtonD.C. and Miami to
Indianapolis we had gathered to chat about his life, music and tour. At this point in his career Kenny doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want too and that's why our hour plus with him was even more remarkable. We laughed with him, got serious with him and found some insight into what makes him tick.
A great dinner for us all at Sonny Williams in downtown Little Rock before his show and a carriage ride (that's right carriage ride) to the arena and we were set for our first look at the Sun City Carnival Tour! Lady Antebellum kicked off the show and further convinced me that they are superstars in the waiting. Awesome opening set gang. Miranda Lambert has become a very energetic performer too. Good grief another memorable set!
Then the master took the stage...Kenny did what Kenny does best...entertain. Non-stop one hit after another. When the show starts winding down you can't believe it's been going on for hours the time goes so fast.
Can't wait for Sept 19th at Lucas Oil Stadium, we add Montgomery Gentry and the Zac Brown Band for our show too! Kenny promised me the roof comes off early this year and the sound will be better. Get your tickets for 20 buck at WFMS.com and come see the show of the summer!!!!
Thanks Kenny for a wonderful weekend.
